I Am the Night is a TNT original drama series and the second instalment of the Suspense Collection. It is based on the biography by Fauna Hodel, One Day She'll Darken.
The limited series premiered January 28th, 2019 on TNT.
Synopsis[]
Inspired by true events, I Am the Night tells the incredible story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl given away at birth, growing up outside of Reno, Nevada. Fauna had always lived with her contradictions and her mysterious origins, until she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets Jay Singletary (Chris Pine), a ruined reporter haunted by the case that undid him. Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime. Chris Pine (Wonder Woman, Star Trek) executive produces and stars as Jay Singletary, a former Marine-turned-hack-reporter/paparazzo. The talented roster joining Pine includes India Eisley (Underworld Awakening, Look Away) as Fauna Hodel, Tony Award Winner Jefferson Mays (The Americans, Law & Order: SVU) as George Hodel, Leland Orser (Berlin Station) as Peter Sullivan, Yul Vazquez (Last Flag Flying) as Billis, Dylan Smith (Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Lemonade) as Sepp, Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) as Jimmy Lee, Justin Cornwell (Training Day, We Are Boats) as Terrence Shye, Jay Paulson (Mad Men) as Ohls and Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman) as Corinna Hodel.

Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster) directed the first two episodes. Sam Sheridan, author of A Fighter's Heart and The Disaster Diaries, wrote five of the six episodes, inspired by the life of Fauna Hodel. The series is produced by Turner's Studio T, with Jenkins, Anonymous Content and Sugar23’s Michael Sugar (13 Reasons Why, Spotlight), Pine, Sheridan and Carl Franklin, (House of Cards, Homeland) serving as executive producers, with Franklin also directing two episodes. On December 17, 2018, it was revealed that the true events that inspired TNT drama I Am the Night will be turned into a companion podcast. The cable network is partnering with Cadence13 to release eight-part podcast, titled Root of Evil: The True Story of the Hodel Family and the Black Dahlia that will feature interviews with the real people impacted by the Black Dahlia murder. Root of Evil debuts February 13, 2019, on Apple Podcasts and other podcasting platforms. [5]

- A preview screening of the first episode was shown on November 9, 2018 at the AFI Film Festival.
- On January 8th, 2019, TNT announced that is teaming up with the hit podcast My Favorite Murder to bring an exclusive live episode hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. [18]
- The live episode took place on the anniversary of the Black Dahlia’s death, on January 15th, 2019 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles, before an exclusive screening of the first episode. Star Jefferson Mays also attended. [18]
